This is Merlot with a difference: 100% estate-grown South Okanagan fruit from our Black Sage Bench (Diamondback) and Golden Mile Bench (Tinhorn Creek) vineyards.
It was aged for 18 months in new French and American oak. The result is a rich, full-bodied wine with concentrated cherry and berry fruit flavours and smoky, peppery, herbal complexity.

“Lifted black fruit flavours are both elegant and downright tasty! This is one of Canada’s best Merlot producers, if not the best. Mouth-watering acidity makes this wine a fantastic food companion.” Natalie MacLean, nataliemaclean.com, November 2, 2009

Winemaker Notes
The 2006 vintage of the Oldfield Series Merlot is once again slightly different blend from pervious vintages. It consists of 93% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Syrah. The Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Syrah were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. fter fermentation finished they were blended together in stainless steel tanks before moving into barrels for aging. After barrel aging it was blended together again before bottling. Like all red wines under the Oldfield Series label this wine was aged in the bottle for over a year before release.
Food Pairing Notes
In summer, try with grilled steak, veal chop, or BBQ leg of lamb. In winter, serve with roast chicken or turkey, roast pork or a savoury stew.

Stunning. Amazing balance, strong but not over-the-top oak taste. Nice tannins-full flavor. I am originally from Burgundy, living in Canada... The quality and intensity of its flavours took me back home and reminded me of previous prime vintage tastings. Indeed the awards are more than well-deserved.
